As a therapist I know how fundamental sleep is to wellbeing, and that modern life makes getting it harder. This blog is a record of my own efforts to get a good night's sleep.

I can't blame Fitbit for these results - what you see is what I slept! My classic "semi-insomnia" issue! A solid block of sleep in the first half of the night, then on waking around 03:00 I was wide awake thereafter. I tried everything except a good fap (saving myself for Missus) to no avail before giving up at 05:10. The reason may possibly be not enough cardio during the day. Research continues.
This was an unexpectedly long dense sleep with most of the restlessness compressed into one hour. However REM and Deep Sleep were unusually low. There was the usual cycling between stages, but never staying long outside Light Sleep.
Another interesting one. This one had no "restless middle" - I have no recollection of the awake spikes. Having woken early, it was not early enough to go back to sleep, so this sleep fell short of the critical minimum.
After a physical day spent on manual tasks, I was expecting to sleep well, and so it proved! Waking periods were unusually low. However my brain then wakes after six hours of actual sleep
